Downhill, Enduro, Trail – Brief Explanation of Terms
-
Downhill (DH): The king of extremes. The discipline is to descend very steep, technical routes as quickly as possible. The mountain is accessed by a ski lift. Specialized, heavy bicycles with a very long suspension travel are used for this purpose.
-
Enduro: The most popular form of gravity riding today. It combines DH and XC elements. The routes consist of downhill sections (timed) and uphill sections (often uphill), which you have to overcome on your own. The bikes are lighter and more universal than those for DH.
-
Trail: The most recreational variation, involving smooth riding on natural mountain paths, both down and up.
Bike Park Czarna Góra – Mecca of Polish Downhill
Located in Sienna, just a few kilometers from Stronie Śląskie, Bike Park Czarna Góra Resort is currently one of the best and most dynamically developing bicycle complexes in this part of Europe. This is where the heart of Polish downhill beats.
Infrastructure: Ski lift, Rental, Service
The heart of the bike park is the super-fast, 6-seater “Luxtorpeda” cableway, equipped with special bike hooks, which takes riders to the very top in a few minutes. At the foot of the mountain there is a professional downhill and enduro bike rental, service and riding school, where you can take your first steps under the supervision of an instructor.
Downhill Bicycle Routes for Everyone – Line Review
Bike Park Czarna Góra offers several kilometers of routes of varying difficulty, color-coded like ski routes.
-
Green and Blue Lines (e.g. “Milky Way”, “Szybka Dyszka”): These are ideal routes for beginners and families. They are wide, smooth, with gently profiled bends (bands) and small moguls. They allow you to safely learn basic skills and feel “flow” – smooth riding in the rhythm of the route.
-
Red Lines (e.g. “DH-Camba”, “Sodowa”): This is where the real fun begins for intermediate players. The trails become narrower and steeper. There are larger jumps with safe landings, as well as numerouswooden structures, such as wallrides (profiled walls for riding), bridges (bridges) and small drops (terrain faults for jumping off).
-
Black Lines (e.g. “Cambodia”): These are the most complicated routes, intended only for advanced and professional players. They are characterized by very steep, technical sections, dense “rock gardens” (sections bristling with stones), carpets of roots and large jumps requiring precision and courage. This is a real test of skills and equipment.
Pump Track – Your Forge of Technique and Balance
At the foot of Czarna Góra there is a professional, asphalt trackpump track. It is a specially designed track, consisting of a series of profiled turns and moguls, which can be overcome without pedaling!
-
How does it work? The speed is generated through intuitive “pumping” movements – loading and unloading the bike at the right moments on the moguls.
-
Why is it worth it? Pump track is the absolute best tool for learning technique. It teaches the correct position on the bike, generating speed with the body, smooth cornering and balance. It’s a great warm-up before hitting large routes and great fun for the whole family.
Singletrack Glacensis – Alternative for Enduro Lovers
For those who prefer adventure in more natural terrain, Kłodzko Land offers a gigantic network of over 200 km of one-way bicycle pathsSingletrack Glacensis. Loops located around Stronie Śląskie, Lądek-Zdrój and Międzygórze are ideal routes for enduro and trail cyclists. They offer a mix of demanding climbs and long, smooth descents on specially built, narrow paths.
Downhill Rider’s Essentials: Equipment That Guarantees Safety
-
Bike: A bike with full suspension (shock absorber front and rear) and hydraulic disc brakes is best for the bike park.
-
Full-Face Helmet: An absolute must! It protects not only the head, but also the jaw and face. An ordinary “peanut” helmet does not provide sufficient protection.
-
Protectors: A set of knee and elbow pads is a minimum. Many riders also use “armor” or “turtle” (spine and chest protectors) and shin guards.
-
Goggles: Protects your eyes from dust, stones and branches.
