The largest mountain fortress in Europe – sightseeing with a soldier and musket shots. Never conquered!
A show, not a boring tour
The guides are actors dressed as Prussian soldiers. There are drills, stories about the life of recruits (3 soldiers on one bed!) and shots from black powder weapons. From the top of the Donjon (the wall is 30 m thick!) you can clearly see the Owl Mountains.
📍 Access and Approach
You leave your car at Przełęcz Srebrna (paid parking lot). To the gate of the Fortress you walk 15-20 minutes steeply uphill (or take the “Fortress Railway” – bus).
🐐 Interesting fact
A herd of goats (“living mowers”) live in the fortress’s moats and ensure that the walls do not overgrow.
