Movable Nativity Scene in Czermna – Franciszek Stepan’s life’s work. Linden wood, a penknife and the power of imagination.
History enchanted in wood
It is located in Kudowa-Zdrój (Czermna district), just a few hundred meters from the famous Skull Chapel. The creator, Franciszek Stepan, carved it with a penknife for 20 years (1904–1924). The nativity scene consists of 250 figures that are moved by a hand-built mechanism.

The nativity scene can be seen in a small, historic house. This is a touching example of folk art that is worth visiting when visiting the Skull Chapel.
