✦ About the place
“Polish Carcassonne”. A city that stopped in time – walls, towers and the unique Match Museum.
Film City
Bystrzyca Kłodzka is a ready-made film set. Due to its unique, terraced urban layout and preserved medieval defensive walls, it often appears in historical films. The city was not destroyed during the war, retaining its authentic atmosphere. Walking through the steep streets and stone steps, you will feel like you are in an Italian town.
🗺️ Walk along the City Tourist Route
Bystrzyca is compact. You can see everything on foot in 2 hours.
- Defensive Walls and Towers:The city is still surrounded by walls. The following have been preserved: the Water Gate (with a truss), the Kłodzko Tower and the Knight’s Tower (an observation point).
- Mały Rynek and Pręgierz:An atmospheric square with a stone pillory from 1556.
- Phillumenistic (Match) Museum:The only one in Poland! It is located in a former evangelical church. Here you will see the history of fire-fighting and match labels from all over the world.
🍽️ Where to eat?
In Bystrzyca, it is worth looking for a restaurant at the Market Square (Plac Wolności). Prices are often lower here than in Polanica or Lądek.
