There is a place in the Kłodzko region where you have the impression that you are floating above the world. A place where the horizon seems endless and the air is so fresh and clean that every breath fills you with energy. It isZieleniec – a scenic village, the highest town in the Sudetes, picturesquely perched on the slopes of the Orlické Mountains at an altitude of nearly 900 m above sea level. Although for many people it is associated mainly with winter skiing madness, its real, year-round magic lies in the extraordinary atmosphere, the Alpine microclimate and – above all – in the panoramas that will remain in your memory forever.
As the hosts of “Gołąbek”, although we live on the opposite, eastern side of the Valley, we have great fondness for Zieleniec. It’s a place you go to for space and breath. That’s why we have created a guide for you that has never existed before. This will not be another laurels for the ski resort. This will be an in-depth story about Zielenc as a phenomenon. We will discover the best points with the legendaryviews of the Śnieżnik Massif, we will take you to local farmsteads and inns serving the best mountaingastronomy and we will prove that Zieleniec is a place that lives and delights 365 days a year.
Zieleniec Phenomenon: On the Roof of the Kłodzko Land
What makes Zieleniec absolutely unique is its location. Stretched for several kilometers along a steep road, it seems to be suspended between the earth and the sky.
Unique Alpine Microclimate – Why Does Breathing Different Here?
Zieleniec is famous for its microclimate similar to the Alpine one. This is not a marketing gimmick. The high altitude, specific pattern of air currents and large amounts of rainfall create conditions that stimulate the body to increase the production of red blood cells. The air here is exceptionally clean, saturated with essential oils from coniferous forests, which makes a stay in Zielenc have health-promoting properties, especially for people with respiratory problems and allergies.
“Viewing Village” in All Its Glory: Where to Look for Panoramas?
The name “scenic village” is fully deserved. Almost every place in Zielenc offers a breathtaking view of the entire Kłodzko Valley and the surrounding mountain ranges.
Views of the Śnieżnik Massif and the Rest of the World
The main actor on this scene is undoubtedly the Śnieżnik Massif. Seen from Zielenc, from a distance of several dozen kilometers, it presents its most classic, majestic, triangular silhouette. Watching the first rays of the sun illuminate its peak while the valleys are still shrouded in a sea of fog is a mystical experience. But the panorama is much wider – it includes the Bystrzyckie, Sowie and Bardzkie Mountains, and with perfect air transparency, you can even see the distant Karkonosze Mountains on the horizon.
Best viewpoints:
-
Observation deck at the main parking lot: Easiest to access, offers a classic panorama.
-
Restaurants and guesthouses with terraces: Many eateries have east-facing terraces, perfect for coffee with a view.
-
Upper station of the cable car: Even in summer, it is worth going to the top to see the panorama from an even higher perspective.
Observation Tower on Orlica – Mandatory Point of the Program
Just above Zieleniec, on the Czech side of the border (which can be reached in a few minutes), rises the Orlica peak (1,027 m above sea level) with a modern observation tower. This is an absolutely must-see destination. Climbing the tower offers a full, unobstructed 360-degree panorama, allowing you to fully understand the geography of the region.

Where to eat? Zieleniec offers a wide selection of places to eat. From traditional wooden inns with a fireplace and folk decor (e.g. Karczma Gryglówka), which serve classics of the genre, to more elegant hotel restaurants where you can eat Polish cuisine with a modern twist.
Spirit of Mountain Homesteads: Architecture and Character
Although Zieleniec is today a modern center, you can still find traces of the former mountain settlement. It is worth paying attention to the architecture – steep, gable roofs (adapted to heavy snowfall), stone foundations and wooden elements are the characteristic features of the Sudetes style. The formerlocal pastoral farmsteads have been transformed into guesthouses, but their structures still tell the story of a difficult life in harmony with the raw mountain nature.
Two Poles of Beauty: Zieleniec and “Gołąbek”
Zieleniec is the western pole of the Kłodzko Valley – vibrant, high, with a wide perspective to the east. “Gołąbek” in Stronie Śląskie is the eastern pole – quiet, intimate, immersed in the wild nature of the Śnieżnik Massif and the Bialskie Mountains, with a view to the west. These two places complement each other perfectly. When planning a longer stay in the Kłodzko region, it is worth experiencing both of these worlds. Spend the day absorbing the amazing panoramas and bustle of Zieleniec, and in the evening return to the absolute peace and quiet of our marina. This is the best way to get to know and understand the entire spectrum of beauty that our extraordinary region has to offer.
